Get inspired!
KATIE WORMINGTON
I am fortunate to have grown up surrounded by the natural world and all the inspiration that it brings to being creative.
The challenge then arises as how best to express that creativity!
I feel a little like ‘Tigger’ at times - so keen that I am to have ‘a go’ at the many different mediums. From textile art with embroidery threads, fabrics and beads, to print, mark making , acrylics , pastels and watercolours.
I have yet to find my favourite approach but I look forward to exploring all these techniques in the months ahead .
AN AUTUMN THANK YOU
Our Autumn Fair was held last month in the Village Hall of Feckenham, and was particularly busy, especially for a Sunday! As we grow as Artisans, we are also trying to develop our Fairs and exhibitions by becoming a little more diverse, so we were more than happy to be joined by Sophie Lynn and Kathy Gee.
For Kathy, this was the first time she had shown her poetry films and was delighted to find that many people sat and watched her 15 minute collection of poetry films all the way through, and some even did so twice! Kathy found that the most frequent comments were that it was refreshing to have a different sort of creativity complimenting the 'fabrication' of fellow Artisans. Words Kathy heard describing her work were words such as
'calming, philosophical, makes you think'.
For Kathy, she learned such a lot from the conversations of our visitors, and said she would love to do it again.
Sophie Lynn is the daughter of one of our Artisans, Janine. Sophie, works as a nurse at St Peter’s Hospice, Bristol and has decided to join a number of colleagues on a fund raising challenge to cycle from Bristol to Paris next May 2024. This event is an incredible opportunity to raise funds for St Peter's Hospice and make a real difference in people's lives.
Sophie joined us at our Autumn Fair providing refreshments on the day including some delicious homemade cakes. With the sales from homemade marmalade, cards and the raffle plus generous donations she added an incredible £600 to her fundraising pot. With help, from events such as this Sophie is hopeful of raising the £1,750 needed for the challenge.
The work that St Peter’s does is incredible. The hospice is made up of so many hard working and dedicated doctors, nurses, therapists, social workers and psychologists, all going that extra mile to provide such amazing and compassionate care for their patients. St Peter’s relies predominantly on charitable funding so all donations are so gratefully received!
St Peter's cares for people with dignity at the end of their life. Their expert teams provide professional and caring support that covers the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual issues that can arise as a result of serious illness. They also extend care to loved ones and carers, providing respite during the hardest of times.
We would like to thank everyone who helped Sophie raise this incredible amount on the day. It was lovely to see you all and receive so much support. A BIG Thank you!!
